Japanese Immigration to Peru     On: 2000-06-12

This book provides a very good guide on the history of Japanese immigration to Peru. It also documents abuses by the government during WWII on Japanese immigrants. The book offers details of how Japanese immigrants and their families were deported to the US to live in detention camps during WWII. Although no Peruvian citizen of Japanese origen was treated this way, they were subject of many abuses. The author provided lots of pictures and stories on especific families. Although the book is well written, it is not one of Thorndikes best known books. His other numerous historical novels are hard to get but worth the while to read.
