I have traveled in Peru and picked up a taste for Huayno music. This album is an excellent selection of the genre and evokes the popular music that bridges two cultures. When you hear it there is no doubt that this is not a European or North American sound, but I for one am drawn to the spectrum of sadness, celebration, and trans-cultural originality. Its not for everyone, but if you like some of the snippets you can access, you will be enthralled by the album.
