This disc, along with all the others Ive heard by Alpamayo, is great fun. Earthy Andean panpipe, interesting plucked instruments, and high-energy vocals. This is perfect for Saturday morning, or anytime youve got friends over and want something interesting in the background. Everyone will comment on it and read the liner notes! Along with a similar Andean group, Sukay (also available from amazon.com), Alpamayo has the perfect combination of folk sound and professional skill. Ive never been to South America, but if I ever do go, I hope its somewhere where they play this kind of music. Energetic but not frenetic, varied, upbeat, happy music.

Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia were the same country once and it shows in this cd. Andean music has unique musical instruments that are heard in this CD. A delight for the senses. If you have never heard Andean panflute before, this is the ideal cd to start with.
