I love to hike. And Smarwool makes the very best hiking sock. They are comfortable, and I have never had a blister with these socks. If you add a plypro liner, they are even better. This comination wicks the moisture away, and keeps your feet comfortable regardless of the temperature and humidity. And they very sturdy and last a long time. This is true whether you are on a day hike, or if you are on a multi-day backpacking trip. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. On: 2008-03-07
Really? Socks for Xmas? Gee Thanks. Thanks what I thought when I received them 3 years ago. But these are the best socks Ive ever owned. Unlike cotton socks they keep my feet dry in the summer when I have to wear work boots and warm in the winter. They are expensive at $15 a pair but well worth it. On: 2006-11-04
I first discovered Smartwool socks in a shop I used to pass by on regular walks. They were having a buy-two-get-one-free sale on Smartwool, and even so, the socks were expensive. But I needed something really good for walking, and they seemed soft but sturdy. I never made such a good investment in my life. Wool notwithstanding, they are very soft. But theyre also warm in cold weather, not too hot in hot weather, and after 8 hours of foot-pounding, they feel like you just put them on. They last well; the pairs I bought in 1999 finally started wearing thin 5 years later. I described them to my father and he thought I was nuts, but when I gave him some for his birthday, he had to agree that I had hit the nail on the head. He wears them for tennis now.
