About time there was an American (excuse me, US) release of Eva Ayllon. Her sound is like some new branch of latin jazz that I discovered years ago. I was a fan the first time I listened. She has a strong voice which her band backs with some incredible rhythms. Ive got this album (and another one from her) on my iPod and wont be taking it off any time soon. On: 2006-05-06
Eva Ayllon is known as the "golden voice of Peru" for a reason! She is a powerful, passionate singer, with a beautiful voice, singing spectacular music. The songs on this CD range from joyful traditional afro-peruvian songs (including the popular "Le Dije a Papa" and "Inga"), to heartbreaking "valses", including some songs by the unforgettable Chabuca Granda.
Its an obvious choice for Peruvians, and Im thrilled shes finally being introduced to World Music fans elsewhere! On: 2006-03-17
when you are part of the nostalgia of being an emigrant this music grows intensely in our hearts the mastery found in this production is unequivalent the best of all is the styles of lando and vals , the salsa number is bright but salsa is not where is at, great for Eva Ayllon and the magnificent ensemble this is a legend! I am a Peruvian who lives in Lima so I can say Eva Ayllon is the real idol of Peruvian music. Her voice is similar to that of the Brazilian singer Alcione, very strong and clear and very beautiful. The songs included in this album are just a few of the great number of hits she has had in Peru. She has a lot of CDs here and several DVDs. Try this one and I am sure Amazon will start receiving pressure to market more products of this great Peruvian singer. On: 2004-11-18
Eva Ayllons vocals are nothing short of amazing: her songs focus on the coastal plains of Lima, she can sing the lando, festejo, and val styles with equal fervor, and the range of influences varies from Andean to African - with everything in between.
Ayllon specializes in complex syncopated beats and interactions between voice and instrumentals - an almost jazzy background offers uniquely Peruvian embellishments and a recording replete with dance beats from Caribbean influences.
