Designed by Marcela Contreras, the throw is woven by hand on a traditional loom with techniques reminiscent of the Inca culture. Artisan Info: "My name is Marcela Contreras and Im originally from Chile but Ive lived in Peru for many years. I love it here! I love the warmth of the Peruvian people and their culture. I studied Graphic Design at the Catholic University, and I stepped into the world of art because I was excited about the idea of designing rugs for childrens rooms. Eventually I was asked to design rugs for an entire house and thats when I realized I loved the diversity of colors. As I continued on this path, I eventually arrived at making throws, which I love because of their soft textures. "I describe my art as revitalizing. I love the fusion of Andean culture and their ancestral techniques. I integrate my art into everything I do and I hope this comes through in my work. "I have been dedicated to this art form for over three years, encouraged by the softness of the threads and their textures. I only work with natural materials and I strive to achieve the highest quality on each piece. "I consider amongst the greatest challenges I have ever faced, the birth of my twin daughters,Where to Buy |
