Our accessories collection spans four broad categories. Headwear (chullos, beanies, ear-warmer headbands) provides the highest warmth-per-gram and is our most-recommended starter accessory for anyone new to alpaca. Handwear (gloves, fingerless gloves, mittens) varies in dexterity vs warmth tradeoffs. Neckwear (scarves, infinity scarves, shawl scarves) ranges from lightweight everyday wear to substantial cold-weather pieces. Footwear is limited to thick socks suitable for hiking boots or warm indoor wear.
Pairing accessories with clothing
For outerwear coordination, neutral-toned accessories (cream, charcoal, camel) pair with most coat colors and don’t require seasonal swapping. Statement-color accessories (deep terracotta, alpine green, navy) work well as the visual focal point against more subdued coats.
Caring for alpaca accessories
Smaller alpaca pieces tolerate gentle hand washing better than larger garments because their reduced surface area means less water-absorbed weight stretching the fibers. Use cool water (under 80°F) with a wool-safe detergent like Eucalan, soak briefly, press out water gently between towels, and reshape flat to dry. Avoid hanging wet pieces — the weight of water elongates fibers permanently. Most accessories last 8-12 years with proper care, including weekly hand washing during heavy use months. Store in breathable cotton bags during warmer months to prevent moth damage.
