Home & Blankets
Luxurious alpaca wool blankets and throws. Handwoven Peruvian home textiles for warmth and comfort.
Blanket weights and uses
Our blanket inventory covers four practical weights. Throw blankets (40″x60″, ~3 lbs) suit sofa draping and casual lap warmth. Travel blankets (50″x70″, ~4 lbs) fold compact for car trips and airplane use. Queen-size blankets (90″x90″, ~7 lbs) work as standalone bedcovers in moderate climates or extra layers in cold ones. King-size (108″x96″, ~9 lbs) handles US king beds with appropriate drop on all sides.
Construction and weave
Most of our blankets are loom-woven on traditional Andean treadle looms by partner workshops in Puno and Cusco. The hand-woven quality shows in subtle variation across the surface that machine weaving cannot replicate — this is a feature, not a defect. Patterns include traditional Andean geometric motifs, herringbone weaves, and contemporary striped designs in muted colorways.
Caring for alpaca blankets
Most alpaca blankets benefit from professional cleaning rather than home washing — the weight of a saturated blanket can permanently distort fibers if not handled correctly. We recommend cleaning once per season for blankets in regular use, less for those used as accent pieces. Spot-clean small spills immediately with cool water and minimal pressure. For long-term storage, fold (don’t hang) and place in cotton storage bags with cedar blocks to deter moths. Avoid plastic bags, which trap moisture and accelerate fiber degradation over multi-year storage.
