How We Curate

Our full catalog spans sweaters, ponchos, accessories, and blankets. These four collections cut across categories so you can find the right piece by occasion rather than product type. New Arrivals refresh monthly as workshops complete new batches. Best Sellers reflect real sales data from the past twelve months. Winter Essentials focus on insulation-first pieces in baby alpaca grade. Gift Guide is organized by budget and recipient.

Looking for help choosing? Read baby alpaca vs regular alpaca for grade guidance, is alpaca wool worth it for the value question, or warmest wool for winter when temperature is the priority.

How our collections are curated

Each Inca Maine collection groups pieces by an editorial logic rather than by product category alone. New Arrivals features the latest output from our partner workshops — typically introduced in March (spring lookbook) and September (fall/winter lookbook). Best Sellers includes pieces that have shown sustained demand over multiple seasons; we use this collection as a reorder guide for our cooperative partners. Winter Essentials is heavyweight and cold-weather oriented; Gifts is curated for variety of price points and gift-giving moments throughout the year.

Working directly with cooperatives

Unlike most alpaca retailers who buy through wholesalers, we work directly with seven family cooperatives in Cusco, Puno, and Arequipa. This direct relationship means our collections often include pieces unavailable from larger commercial brands — experimental colorways, variations on traditional patterns, and small-batch runs that wouldn’t justify wholesale minimums. The trade-off is that some pieces sell out faster and don’t reorder for several months until our next production cycle. If you fall in love with a specific item, mention it through our contact form and we’ll let you know if and when reorder becomes available.
