Shipping & delivery information
Everything you need to know about how your alpaca garments and Peruvian home goods travel from our Maine workshop to your door.
Order processing
Most in-stock items leave our Portland studio within one to two business days. Because many of our sweaters, ponchos, and blankets are hand-finished by Andean artisans, a small number of made-to-order pieces need extra time. When that applies, the expected date is noted on the product page and again in your order confirmation email so there are no surprises.
Orders placed on weekends or public holidays begin processing on the next business day. During peak winter months we add staff to keep turnaround times steady, but a short delay of an extra day can happen when demand is high. If you need a piece by a specific date, send us a note and we will do our best to plan the route around it.
Domestic delivery rates
We ship to all fifty states through tracked ground and expedited services. Rates are calculated by weight and destination at checkout, and the estimates below cover a typical single-garment order.
International orders
We are proud to send Peruvian alpaca pieces to customers around the world. International parcels travel through tracked postal and courier services, with transit times ranging from seven to twenty-one business days depending on the country and its customs process. Duties, taxes, and import fees are set by the destination country and are the responsibility of the recipient; we recommend checking your local thresholds before ordering so the final cost is clear.
Every international package includes an accurate customs declaration listing the garment as apparel or a textile home good, along with the fibre content. This helps your parcel clear inspection smoothly and protects the natural alpaca wool from unnecessary handling.
How we pack alpaca wool
Alpaca is a delicate, breathable fibre, so packaging matters as much as the stitching. Each garment is folded along its seams, wrapped in acid-free tissue, and sealed in a recyclable poly sleeve that keeps out moisture without trapping it. Blankets and larger ponchos are rolled rather than creased to protect their loft, then boxed with paper cushioning made from post-consumer material.
We avoid plastic wherever a paper or compostable alternative works just as well. When your parcel arrives, the tissue and box can go straight into home recycling, and the garment is ready to air out and wear.
Tracking your order
As soon as your parcel is scanned by the carrier, we email a tracking link so you can follow it from Maine to your mailbox. If a tracking number has not updated after two business days, or if the map shows a delay, reach out and our team will open a trace with the carrier on your behalf. We would rather hear from you early than have a package sit unaccounted for.
Missing, delayed, or damaged parcels
Weather, customs, and carrier backlogs occasionally slow a shipment beyond the estimated window. If your order is running late, contact us with your order number and we will investigate right away. In the rare event a piece arrives damaged, keep the packaging and send a photo within five days so we can arrange a replacement or refund. Returns and exchanges follow the terms on our returns page, and our team is happy to walk you through the steps.
